It's Time for Reflection Where are they? I asked myself, while my shadow grew longer. It started to feel like they left me behind. How do I know it is true?

Where Are They? Was I Left Behind?

Where are they? I asked myself, while my shadow grew longer, and a nice breeze carried away the heat. I was waiting already for hours if I could only enjoy it. So much was happening out there, while I was waiting for our order from the store. It started to feel like they left me behind. All kinds of thoughts entered my mind as I started to follow that train of thought. And that’s why I decided to look around, to see who else was there.

I saw another young man standing around. It looked to me like he waited for his guys to make some money, loading orders, or waiting in line for someone else. How are you? I asked him. The conversation started as if no one ever had a lonely waiting-in-line experience in Haiti. And like always in Haiti, we talked about family. That is why he shared about his child and asked if I had any children. My answer took him by surprise as I didn’t have any children.

Completely convinced of his logic and his understanding of life I asked him. “Why should I have children, why do you have a child?” He answered me. “If you don’t have children, you die, and no one will think of you again.” He paused before he said that he could die tomorrow, and he wanted someone to remember his life. He asked then, why someone would remember me. Those are great questions.

I believe in the inspired word of God, the Bible because I follow Jesus Christ. And in there, it says that I am HIS. It also says that nothing can be accomplished in this world, which could make me important. The creator of this world sent his Son, Jesus Christ into this world because HE loves me. Jesus Himself said, that if I believe in Him, being the Son of God, I will have eternal life. I am in paradise with Him today, or tomorrow, if I die now! No longer left behind!

Do you know that you don’t have to be left behind?

  1. A man of God. He greatly influenced my life. An extremely humble man. He is more than a carpenter!
